All of our cats are primarily pets.Although breeding queens will be having litters, their health and happiness comes first, and if we feel a girl may not be ready for a litter, she will not be mated.
We only expect any queen to have one litter a year – giving her enough time to recover from the effects of having kittens. Having said this, some girls are prolific callers, which is bad for them - running the risk of the cat developing pyometra. Sometimes it is necessary to weigh up the pros and cons, and come to a balanced decision, rather than sticking to a 'once a year formula'.
Once a queen’s breeding career is over, she will live with us as neutered pet, and still receive the same level of care and attention as previously.
