Ticked TICA Cat Club All Ticked Off - 20th March 2010
It was lovely to have Jo's company at the show. Jo's sister Emily is Chai's mum, so it was fantastic to have a catch up. The great news of the day is that Valentine has gained the title of Champion. We are of course thrilled about this. Many thanks to Eduard Borras for the final place that gave Valentine his title.
Valentine is less than thrilled with the show circuit. It is just too much noise, and there are too many girls around for him to relax. So, he will now be retiring from the bench to enjoy life as a titled stud boy and adored sofa buddy.
Da Vinci had her very first show outing today too. Although she has her own personal opinions on what a nice stretch should look like, she was rather good humoured about the day, and took it all in her stride. To be honest, the opportunity for extra cuddles and attention was happily exploited by my little red madam.
Valentine's points: 410 points 6 x BOC, 6 x BOD, 1 x BOB, 1 x 3rd BOB, 1 x 5th Best Shorthair Cat
Da Vinci's points: 270 points 6 x BOC, 6 x 2nd BOD
Tica Alliance Title-ist Show 17 May 2009
Not only was Kat at this show with her two beautiful baby girls Xanath and Xaica, but we also got to meet Michelle and Adam with their Schimmel boy, Squiggly. It's always so nice when a show is a social event too! This was Phoenix's first show as an adult, and Valentine was competing against the other three Schimmel babies. Valentine behaved beautifully again, and is a real pleasure to show. Phoenix was in full on tortie mode for this show. Once again she was rather cranky and hormonal bless her, and her temper got worse as the day went on. In the end I took the decision to withdraw her, as she was obviously getting stressed by the whole process. Although it would have been lovely for Phoenix to have a title before having her first litter, this is obviously her way of telling us that she has had enough of showing for the time being and it's time to be a mum. The health and happiness of the cats always comes first, so she will now have a break from showing to have some kittens.
Spring Fever Show 22 March 2009
This was an exciting show for us because it was Valentine's first. It was also the first time I had taken two cats to a show, so thanks to Megan for helping out with getting the cats to the different rings! We were so proud of Valentine who was his usual laid back self and took everything in his stride.
Phoenix 300 points 6x BOC, 6x BOD, 1x BOB
Valentine 300 points 6x BOC, 6x BOD, 4x 2nd BOB
Cattica Love is…… Show 15 February 2009
Quite a lot of time had passed between Phoenix’s first show and this, her second, so we were interested to see how she would react here.Unfortunately, she was only just at the end of calling. She is very young to be calling anyway, and being woken up early to be dragged out in the car to a sports hall in Slough rather than being allowed to stay in her snug heated bed with her brothers to look after her clearly didn’t please her.
Despite not being keen to stretch out, and swearing at a few judges, she still managed the following results, and a place in a final.
RingPoints (Adult)Awards
One50 BOC, BOD, 2nd BOB
Two50 BOC, BOD, BOB
Three50 BOC, BOD, 2nd BOB
Four50 BOC, BOD, BOB
Five 50BOC, BOD, BOB
Six 130BOC, BOD, BOB, Eight Best Shorthair Kitten
This gives her a total of 380 points for this show.
Spoticat Christmas Spirit Show 14 December 08
Not only was this Phoenix’s first show, but ours as well.Luckily, we had requested to be penned next to Kat and Julie, so we had plenty of guidance and support. Many thanks to Kat for the loan of show curtains, making the process a lot more straight forward for us.
Phoenix took everything in her stride, and was incredibly laid back all day.She showed herself beautifully, not minding being handled by seven judges in front of all the other cats and people. We were so proud, and thrilled with her reaction to the whole showing process, which should bode well for the future.
Her results were:
Ring Points (adult) Awards
Ring 1 45 BOC, 2nd BOD
Ring 2 50 BOC, BOD
Ring 3 50 BOC, BOD, BOB
Ring 4 45 BOC, 2nd BOD
Ring 5 50 BOC, BOD
Ring 6 45 BOC, 2nd BOD
Ring 7 155 BOC, 2nd BOD, 5th Best Shorthair Kitten
This gives her a total of 440 points, which we consider to be a promising start to her showing career.
