We want to be sure that you have thought hard about whether a Siamese or Oriental kitten is right for you, and that you understand the particular needs of the breed. If you have any questions, or want some help making up your mind, feel free to contact us and ask away!
You will need to come and visit your kitten at least once before you take him or her home.We do understand that this may be a long journey for you, but we need to meet you to be sure that you are right for one of our kittens, and we want you to be absolutely sure that one of our kittens is right for you.
Your baby will need at least two meals of good quality food a day.If you choose not to continue with the raw food diet he or she has been weaned on, we ask that you make the change a gradual one in order to prevent any problems. We are more than happy to give advice and guidance if you are at all unsure of how to do this.
Fresh clean water must be available to your kitten twenty four hours a day.
Chrestomanci kittens are only homed in indoor homes. The exception to this is if you have either a secure cat run, or a totally cat proof garden.
If your cat has health problems at any stage in his or her life, you must seek appropriate veterinary attention, and notify us of the problem and outcome.
Your kitten will be vaccinated when he or she comes to you.We expect you to maintain annual boosters.
All Chrestomanci kittens are sold on the understanding that they are to be neutered. We will send your baby home with a form to be signed by your vet when the operation has been done, and sent back to us.
If at any point in your cat’s life you find you are unable to keep him or her, please notify us – we will happily have the cat back.(Please note, no refund is available in this circumstance.)
We still care about all Chrestomanci kittens once they have left us.We ask that you contact us twice yearly to give a brief update on how the cat is.
What your kitten expects from you
Your baby has just left his or her mother, brothers and sisters, and extended cat and human family. You need to be patient and understanding while he or she finds their feet and settles into their new home.
Siamese and Oriental cats thrive on attention and affection.Even if you have other cats, your kitten will need plenty of interaction and love from you.
Kittens love to play.Even the simplest of toys fascinate them.Your baby needs regular play time with you for exercise and mental stimulation.Play time is also an excellent bonding time.
Your Siamese or Oriental needs companionship.Ideally, this would be another Siamese or Oriental cat; however other cats and even dogs can be good companions. If you are your cat’s main companion, you need to be at home for most of the day.
Your baby has no way of fending for him/herself.He or she relies on you entirely for food and water, so you need to be able to provide this regularly and at set times of day.
Bonding with your kitten is dependant on the time you spend with him or her.Siamese and Orientals are incredibly interactive, and your baby will want to be involved in almost everything you are doing. They will expect you to share everything with them, and to be included in everything.
Being uprooted and moved from one family to another can be very traumatic for a cat.Your kitten will build up trust in you, and will expect to be cared for into his or her old age.He or she could live to twenty years old. For more information about whether a Siamese or Oriental would suit you, please see To live with...
